Description
As a scientist and peanutrician, Dr. Peanut leads a rich and nutty life. But daily he and his young peanut patients face the dangers of being eaten. This chapter book introduces and follows the intrepid doctor as he employs science and common sense to befriend threatening giants, find companionship with a neighboring snail, ward off ferocious beasts, and mobilize the talking peanuts to make theirs a safer, more harmonious world. Excellent early elementary grade reading with engaging illustrations. Readers will learn to critique some delightful science. They will also pick up some basic vocabulary from the language of the talking peanuts. Of the first story in this volume, reviewers have said: "A charming story of friendship" (Children's Bookwatch, Midwest Book Review). "Delightfully nonsensical" (Small Press Review). Dr. Peanuts comes from the author of The Checker Players: "Intelligence and humor. It has that rare substance" (New York Times Book Review).
